We refer to this section as “natural wonders” because, naturally, we wonder why anybody would want these. You might be surprised as to how frequently rocks, shells, driftwood, pine cones and containers of sand are found in dresser drawers, book shelves and occasionally on mantels.  They are the freebies of the souvenir world, designed to take you back to the carefree times you have spent camping or sunning on a beach. Perhaps, in a moment totally out of character for you, you removed petrified wood from a national park, even though it was against the law. Shame on you.

The problem is once you get the natural wonders home; they don’t actually go with your furniture and décor. That’s when they get shipped off to the basement. Perhaps you originally thought they were candidates for inclusion in some mini landscaping project, but those plans never came to fruition. Or maybe you are saving those pebbles for the rustic dream cabin in the woods you hope to retire to some day. If truth be told, you probably can’t recall where they came from in the first place. Don’t bother wracking your brain. You can always get another rock, if you need one.

CRUD Challenge

This entire category requires extra determination, particularly for those of you who live in studio apartments. The very best part is how easy they are to dispose of – right outside, in many cases, or at least a trip to a park to restore them to Mother Nature.
